Mariners cave
We set the jib as we headed south to Port Maurelle. We got enough breeze to turn off the engine and have a nice little sail. It was my first time on the helm and I was surprised with how manoeuvrable Savarna is. We picked up Craig on our tender and with all our snorkel gear and met Nawii. We had another little sail with the tender in tow to Mariners cave. Ben and John took the tender in to find the cave, as you can see in the picture, thereโs not much to see above water. Everyone loaded into the tender (eight people, offshore cruising tenders are awesome!!). Hopping in the water the vis was amazing again and there was a few fish around the entrance. Swimming in felt usual, I dived nice and deep getting a good view. Georgie did a great job duck diving in. Craig had brought his dive torch in and we were having a look around when we spotted a sea snake on the rocks at the back of the cave. We kept it to ourselves until we got back to the boat. We had lots of fun playing around doing duck dives and exploring. We got dropped at swallow cave while Nawii continued back to the marina. It was sad to see so much graffiti in such a gorgeous cave, all reachable walls were covered in names. We jumped into the water then walked up a crack which opened up into a dry cave with a beautiful opening into the canopy. Ben did an awesome job of skippering us back to Savarna, still anchored at Port Maurelle, despite a bit of a head wind. What a day! Tonga just keeps on providing.
