Turns out city bikes are not made for mountains

We took them up the Via Ponale and beyond to Punta Larici anyway - ignoring the fact that 99% of people on that path had e-mountain bikes and the remaining other 1% had regular mountain bikes. It was a struggle.

But we are athletes and made it up and back down some steep steep gravelly tracks - and then had a very well-deserved gelato and a swim!
